The College of Humanities and Social Sciences is proud to honor Christopher Michael Johnson, MAIS '11, with the Distinguished Alumni Award in interdisciplinary studies.
Johnson was named president of the University of West Georgia, effective August 1, 2025. He leads a comprehensive regional public university, which offers more than 100 academic programs and serves more than 14,000 students across multiple Georgia locations.
With more than 20 years in higher education, Johnson has held leadership roles at Purdue, George Mason University, and Northern Virginia Community College, and he most recently served as chief of staff at the University of Houston and the University of Houston System.
His career reflects a deep commitment to student success, institutional advancement, and strategic leadership.
