The College of Humanities and Social Sciences is proud to honor Jay Trainer, MA History '95, with the Distinguished Alumni Award in history and art history.
Trainer serves as chief operating officer for the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), overseeing public-facing organizations including presidential libraries, museums, legislative archives, agency and research services, and the federal register.
Trainer began his career at NARA in 1988 and has held key roles across the organization, including executive for agency services and assistant director of the Federal Records Centers Program.
His decades of service reflect a deep commitment to public history, and his leadership has helped shape the agency’s strategic direction.
