NOT-OD-24-176
Effective October 1, 2024, NIH is requiring the reporting on DMS in the annual performance reports (RPPR) for all RPPRs due on or after October 1st.
In the report under Section C5 a new section has been added: C5.c in the DMS section. The new DMS C.5.c section asks recipients who are subject to the DMS Policy the following questions:
- Whether data has been generated to date and what type of data it is.
- Whether data has been shared for use by others.
- If data has been shared, in what repository and under what unique digital identifiers.
- If data has NOT been shared, what is the status of data sharing (e.g. being prepared for submission, submitted to repository, not yet expected to be shared)?
- If data has not been generated and/or shared as outlined in an approved DMS plan, what corrective actions have been or will be taken to comply with the approved plan?
If changes are required to the DMS they will require prior approval, and a revised DMS will need to be uploaded in the RPPR along with an explanation of why the plan is being updated.
For JITs (Just in Time), there will also be a new section for DMS plans in case there are revisions to the plan at that stage. Please note all DMS plans must receive prior approval.
