International collaborations

As faculty continue to engage with colleagues in other countries, the U.S. Government is expanding its restrictions on activities with certain institutions and countries, citing national security concerns and the increased use of academic solicitation against U.S. universities.

George Mason University's Office of Research Integrity and Assurance (ORIA) has created a brief (approximately 30-minute) online training module in Mason LEAPS to support faculty, researchers, and staff, and to help all of us navigate the risk associated with certain collaborations.  This training provides guidance on topics such as international travel with Mason laptops and equipment, international shipments, collaborations with colleagues in other countries, and guidelines for interacting with nationals from sanctioned countries.

To locate this online training module, go to: https://masonleaps.gmu.edu, and in the upper right hand corner search box, type “International Collaborations”.

CHSS faculty, researchers, and staff will be enrolled in the training that aligns with their roles and responsibilities and will receive instructions for accessing it from Mason Leaps.  Awareness of these regulations and how they might impact our research and other activities helps to ensure that the Mason community remains in compliance with federal requirements.

If you have questions after you complete the training, please contact ORIA at export@gmu.edu.
