Despite its status as one of the wealthiest counties in the United States, there is still significant financial need in Fairfax County. Students attending Mason are not exempt from stress caused by the high cost of food, gas, and rent. Fortunately, students experiencing food insecurity have access to non-perishable food and hygiene supplies from the Patriot Pantry. Approximately 50 students use the Patriot Pantry each week.
CHSS faculty and staff, if you are able to help, please donate anything listed on the “Most Needed Items” list, please bring donations of food and/or personal care items to the Dean’s Office, Horizon Hall 6th floor, between September 3 – September 13, or contribute using this Amazon Wish List Link.
Patriot Pantry Most Needed Items
Non-Perishable Food
- Pasta, spaghetti preferred
- Pasta Sauce
- Hormel Compleats microwave meals, chicken or beef
- Cereal, any variety, and shelf stable milk (e.g., Parmalat 2%)
- Pop tarts
- Granola bars
- Individual fruit and applesauce cups
- Jelly, any variety
Personal Hygiene
- Bars of soap (individually wrapped)
- Deodorant (men’s or women’s)
- Feminine products (pads/liners needed)
- Laundry detergent pods
- Toilet paper
