Tenured Instructional Faculty
CHSS tenured instructional faculty interested in applying for a faculty study leave to be taken during the 2025-2026 academic year must submit their application materials by email to the college by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 11, 2024.
Full-time, tenured instructional faculty who meet eligibility criteria are invited to pursue this opportunity:
- Faculty must have completed at least six (6) years of service at the time of application, which means faculty who start their appointments later than the fall of 2018 are not eligible to apply in this round.
- Faculty that have been awarded a tenured instructional faculty study leave previously may only receive a leave every seven years. This means that the latest faculty study leave would have been awarded for the 2018-2019 academic year or earlier.
Leave may be taken during the Fall or Spring semester of the academic year after the award is announced. Leave may be taken for one semester at full pay or two semesters at half pay, with approval by the department chair and Dean.
To ensure eligibility, potential applicants should review the complete application guidelines, submission information and eligibility criteria here.
Questions regarding the tenured instructional faculty study leave program should be directed to Michele Schwietz, the college’s associate dean for research. Applications for study leave for the 2025-2026 academic year must be submitted by email at chssadr@gmu.edu to the college by 5pm on Friday, October 11, 2024.
