Mason’s Research Development Services is providing summer grant writing services including copy editing services for faculty wishing to receive input on the grammar, syntax, layout, and overall presentation of their grant applications. This work will be performed by graduate and advanced undergraduate students receiving technical editing training at Mason. The rate is $15 per hour. All submissions must be provided at least 2 weeks before OSP’s internal submission deadline. The editing will not provide commentary on the scientific, technical or research merits of the proposal. All applications will be kept confidential. Sign up here. Researchers can find sample language and additional resources on the Research Development Resources website.
Looking for external funding? Check out these grant search tools provided by the university. The Sponsored Programs Information Network SPIN Database offers a wealth of searchable funding opportunities, and Mason faculty, staff and students can set up a profile to receive customized search results. For those new to SPIN or anyone needing a refresher, several SPIN training resources are available. Also, George Mason University Libraries provides information and access to many helpful resources for identifying foundation funding.
For those interested in federal funding, check out the Grants.gov notification service. This feature will keep you informed of new opportunities and will prevent you from having to continuously check the website for updates. New grant postings will be delivered right to your email mailbox. Other tips on finding funding opportunities include signing up for agency-specific funding newsletters and reviewing the Funding Opportunities link on the CHSS Research web page.
