How to help: Please donate personal hygiene items
Despite its status as one of the wealthiest counties in the United States, there is still significant financial need in Fairfax County. Students attending Mason are not exempt from stress caused by the high cost of food, gas, and rent. Fortunately, students experiencing food insecurity have access to non-perishable food and hygiene supplies from the Patriot Pantry.
The Patriot Pantry uses an online ordering and contactless pickup system. If a currently enrolled student is experiencing food insecurity and is eligible for services, he or she submits an online order to receive non-perishable food and hygiene supplies. The pantry staff fulfill the order and notify the student when it is ready for pickup.
During the Winter Break when Mason is closed, December 23 – January 3 (16 days), the Patriot Pantry will be closed. The approximately 50 students who use the pantry each week will not have access to assistance during this time. CHSS is partnering with Wegmans Fairfax to provide 50 bags of food to be distributed to students before the break. CHSS faculty and staff are encouraged to donate personal care items from the list below. Any donation is welcome!
Please bring donations of personal care items to the Dean’s Office, Horizon Hall 6th floor any time between November 18 and December 4 (10:00 a.m.).
