Services available through the Center for Psychological Services

The Center for Psychological Services, a training clinic for undergraduate and graduate students in mental health programs, runs a free Emotional Support line that is available seven days a week in English (703-215-1898) and Spanish (703-914-3878).

For those who need more assistance, the center offers brief therapy sessions (one to three sessions), which are free to faculty, staff, and students at Mason. Sessions are available for $25/session to those in the community.

Full therapy and mental health and learning assessments are available to anyone in the community on a sliding scale basis.
Trainings for community clinicians

Through the Center for Evidence-Based Behavioral Health, the Department of Psychology conducts numerous trainings for community clinicians in evidence-based practice, or interventions that have been shown through rigorous research to work in treating conditions like depression, anxiety, posttraumatic stress disorder, and others.
Additional initiatives and research

Mason faculty are involved in Mason’s Mental Health and Well-Being Task Force, the Governor’s Behavioral Health Redesign, and other efforts to support mental health of those in the Mason community and the broader Commonwealth.

Several of Mason faculty conduct research on how to support mental health and reduce stigma around seeking help for problems in mental health.
