Summer Horizon News-Zine is Here!

The college's summer 2021 edition of Horizon is now available, offering narratives of our extraordinary times and how the college's programs, faculty, staff, students, and alumni are working to meet these challenges.

As with our previous editions of the 'zine, we focus on research, teaching, student success, and college-to-career, introducing you to individuals within the CHSS community who are using the humanities and the social sciences to positively affect our world. You will learn how Mason’s forensics team has found success despite the requirements for virtual speech tournaments. You will visit the community created by the Roy Rosenzweig Center for History and New Media, which allows religious groups to come together in novel ways during the COVID-19 restrictions on gatherings. You may be surprised to see where some of our alumni have gone with their Mason education. And you will see how the college has supported George Mason University in its goals of creating an atmosphere of inclusive excellence, both on campus and beyond.

The creative work that concludes Horizon, “Ghazal for Lost Women,” was written by Danielle Badra, MFA Creative Writing ‘17. After Horizon went to press, we learned that the poem will be published this fall in the book, Like We Still Speak (University of Arkansas Press 2021). It is reprinted with permission of the publisher.

As ever, we are pleased to share this news with you, and hope that you will share your news with us. Please send your stories to Felicia Carr, the college's assistant dean for communications and marketing, at fcarr2@gmu.edu or with Anne Reynolds, Horizon's editor, at areyno12@gmu.edu.
