Webex will no longer be available beginning May 31, 2021

If you are not aware, Webex is being phased out and the service will no longer be available through a Mason license beginning on May 31st. ITS has already begun closing accounts and will not be reactivating users. Please see the roadmap for more information: https://its.gmu.edu/knowledge-base/webexroadmap/

Currently Mason offers Zoom, MS Teams, and Blackboard Collaborate Ultra for web conferencing and collaboration. Some grants may prohibit or discourage the use of Zoom. If there are security concerns, ITS can be engaged to see if there is a way to mitigate them, otherwise MS Teams can be used by faculty and staff and Collaborate can be used by faculty, staff, and students.

If you notice the mention of Webex in any grants you are working on, you may want to consider informing project sponsors/researchers about these changes in the event they need to submit any amendments to their proposals or purchase a Webex license.

If you have concerns regarding your Webex account closure, please reach out to Corinne Hurst (Executive Assistant, Office of Research, Innovation, and Economic Impact) at (703) 993-6926, churst5@gmu.edu.
