The College of Humanities and Social Sciences gathers on Friday, Oct. 1 from 4:30-6:00 p.m. for the annual Celebration of Scholarship in the Mason Hall Atrium. This annual event celebrates the intellectual work of the college and honors the recipient of the annual Award for Scholarship.
This year’s recipient is Alan Cheuse, an author, writer, and English department faculty member. Cheuse, a frequent NPR commentator, recently published A Trance After Breakfast, a collection of travel writings.
The event also honors high-achieving students. The winners of the 2010-2011 Dean's Challenge Awards – both graduate and undergraduate – and the 2010 Freshman Academic Achievement Awardees are recognized.
