The minor in religious studies introduces students to the world’s religious traditions. Within the minor, students may pursue religious traditions of Asia or the Near (Middle) East or comparative aspects of religion. Exposure to religious beliefs, practices, and rituals from a variety of cultures allows students to gain an understanding of those faiths that continue to influence the political, economic, ethical and social life of the majority of the people in the world.
A minor in religious studies works well with a variety of majors, such as sociology, anthropology, history, art history, economics, or philosophy. With the understanding of human religion students can gain from this minor, they may pursue careers in government and politics, international relations and marketing, conflict resolution, galleries and museums, media organizations, or as religious professionals (e.g. priests, rabbis, or teachers).
