Lecture by Mason's New President

Tuesday, October 16, 2012 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM EDT
The Hub, Ballroom

Mason's new president Ángel Cabrera delivers the Moments of Truth Lecture. The annual lecture is an initiative of the Interdisciplinary Curriculum Collaborative of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. The lecture is followed by a question and answer session and reception.

Dr. Cabrera’s book, co-authored with Gregory Unruh, addresses the role of a leader in the global economy. Bob Dudley, CEO of British Petroleum, says the text has "the mind-set to work across the world—with all of its ambiguities—requires real personal passion. Being Global: How to Think, Act and Lead in a Transformed World captures that spirit by describing the art and the effort of listening, thinking, and acting to make a real difference in this complex world. This is a book for anyone developing his or her own passion for going global."

Dr. Cabrera chaired the United Nations task force that created the “Principles for Responsible Management of Education” and served as the chairperson of the Global Agenda Council for The World Economic Forum.

Sponsored by the Interdisciplinary Curriculum Collaborative (BIS, Cultural Studies, Higher Education, Honors College, MAIS, New Century College, Women and Gender Studies).
