Campus-Based Child Care Needs Assessment: A Study of Campus-Based Child Care Business Plans

Abstract:

This dissertation analyzes the demand for child care services at the Manassas Campus of Northern Virginia Community College and describes the demonstrated benefits of a campus based child care center at existing institutions and the features of the business plans that successfully created them.  In the process of researching and writing this dissertation, the author conducted a literature search of the documented history and benefits of campus based child care, conducted a survey of the student and faculty of the Manassas Campus to assess child care demand, and performed an analysis of the business planning of existing Virginia college campus based child care centers.  This dissertation is slated to be a reference and resource for college leaders and administrators as they focus on selecting options to improve the quality of the community college experience and achieve the objective goals that they have set for their institutions.
