How did you choose your degree program?

I chose my degree program by conducting research before attending the University. I researched if the University had programs related to the legal field and I looked at the courses that were offered and related to my major.

How did your academic experiences in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences impact you?

My academic experience in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) impacted me because CHSS guided and helped me choose coursework that was not only required, but was interesting to.

What accomplishment(s) during your time at Mason are you most proud of?

My accomplishment during my time at Mason that I am most proud of is becoming an advocate for human trafficked victims and survivors all the while raising funds to help with education and everyday necessities. Me and a few students created a GoFundMe to raise $3,000.00, and we surpassed that goal with raising $3,600.

Are there faculty or staff members who made a difference during your Mason career? Please give an example of this impact if possible.

There are a few faculty and staff members who made a difference during my Mason career are Sharrell Hassell-Goodman, Al Fuertes, and Sara Montiel. Sharell Hassell-Goodman impacted me because she helped my writing grow and she helped me be able to write on a collegiate level. She took the time out to help me and she provided me with amazing feedback on my essays. I can honestly say that my writing has improved and I can actually see the growth. Al Fuertes impacted me because he helped my passion for becoming an advocate for human trafficked survivors and victims. It made me want to do more with combatting the huge issue of human trafficking that is present within the world. Sara Montiel impacted me because she was an amazing advisor,, helping me choose my classes to allow me to graduate quickly. She was patient and her advising allowed me to enjoy all of the courses that I have chosen to take. Professor Yamanaka  has impacted me by allowing me to learn so much from her. This specifically showed in INTS 337 where we talked about so many social justice issues and shedding light on differences and privileges. She pushes me to make and allow me to think outside of the box. She is truly amazing. One of the best professors I have had the pleasure of being a student under at Mason!!!
