Class of 2020, we applaud the tenacity and courage you have demonstrated in sustaining your focus on completing your degrees this semester, in spite of everything you and your loved ones are facing. We applaud as well your full engagement in all of the many learning opportunities, in and beyond the classroom, that our Mason community has afforded you throughout your time here.

Vartan Gregorian, the President of the Carnegie Corporation of New York, has said, "The humanities and the social sciences are a way for this country to learn from the past, understand the present, and devise paths to progress and peace." You have learned how to learn. We are very proud of your accomplishments to date, and we are gratified to have helped build the platform from which you launch.

We hope that you will enjoy the commemorative program we have created to mark this important day and we thank the Green Machine for contributing to this year’s festive virtual experience!

On behalf of the faculty and staff who have had the privilege of working with you throughout your academic careers at Mason, congratulations!
