Olivia  Blackmon

Olivia Blackmon joins George Washington’s Faculty in the IIST and Cyber program after recently finishing her Ph.D. in Sociology with a concentration in quantitative methods and Education from George Mason University, and an EWA fellowship at Harvard University. Her previous employment focused on federal and corporate grants addressing issues related to higher education STEM initiatives. She was appointed by the Obama administration to lead a collaborative effort to increase STEM in Historically Black Colleges and Universities, and Minority Serving Institutions in the U.S. and Brazil (funded by the National Science Foundation and the Department of Education). She has also served as the Principal Investigator for the Consortium for STEM Success and the Payne Global Institute, where her work approached learning and STEM engagement in Southeast Asia, East Africa and South America.
