Katie is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology and a Research Assistant at the Center for Social Science Research. Her research employs qualitative and quantitative methods to examine issues related to poverty and inequality, education, and social policy. She recently was awarded funding from the Foundation for Community Association Research to examine barriers to renters' participation in community associations. Prior to attending GMU, Katie worked at the DC Fiscal Policy Institute, where her research and advocacy focused on collaborating with low-income women, advocates, and government staff to improve services for D.C. welfare recipients. She holds a Masters in Public Policy from the University of Maryland.
