2020 Dean's Challenge Award Recipient

I am a first-year PhD Student in the Criminology, Law and Society program. I have travelled a long eight-year road beginning with homelessness on the streets of Portland, Oregon to get to George Mason. I displayed my commitment to learning by setting up an external learning opportunity with Dr. Irvin-Erickson in order to gain a better grasp on the literature. Showed excellence through the execution of my masters thesisone which I am currently using to lead independent project with fellow student from my cohort.

Finally, I have spent many hours since coming to the northern Virginia area actively participating in my community through volunteer basketball coaching and through the local Alcoholics Anonymous community. My favorite memory is coming to visit George Mason last year and instantly knowing that this was the place I wanted to be. I am greatly honored to be one of this year’s recipients of the Dean’s Challenge Award.
