Loralin Welch joined the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) Pre-Award Research Administration Team from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) where she supported the Department of Internal Medicine in both pre- and post-award activities for grants, contracts, and clinical trials. Prior to working at VCU, Loralin worked at James Madison University (JMU) performing pre-award duties for the central Office of Sponsored Programs including proposal development, creating compliant budgets, submitting both federal and non-federal proposals, contract negotiations, subrecipient monitoring, and prior approvals. Loralin comes to CHSS with over five years’ experience in research administration. She enjoys working with new faculty on proposal submissions and staying up to date on current topics within research administration.
Loralin received both her undergraduate (Psychology/Communication) and graduate degree (Adult Education/ Human Resource Development) from JMU and is a Certified Research Administrator (CRA). In her spare time, Loralin likes hiking, reading, and playing with her dog Taco.
