Outstanding Graduate Student Honorees - Spring 2021
Each semester, we recognize some of our outstanding graduating students. These master's and doctoral students were nominated by their departments for their academic achievement and contributions to their respective fields.
Completed two prestigious internships at the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage and the American Folklife Center, presented at the American Folklore Society annual meeting, and partnered with a museum on the Rosebud Reservation for her thesis.
With support from the department, Amy was able to develop her own voice and vision as a scholar, and earn a National Science Foundation Doctoral Dissertation Completion Grant.
An exceptional scholar and teacher who published numerous academic journal articles, and presented extensively, including delivering a speech at a conference covered by C-Span.
Maintained a 4.0 while completing requirements for a master's (Economics) and secondary certificate (Statistics), and interning at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC).
Researched Standard English (SE), translingualism, and antiracist writing assessment in the field of writing studies, with work published in multiple prestigious journals within the field of writing and rhetoric.
Distinguished in all Spanish disciplines, a Spanish Writing Center Tutor, and vaccine clinic interpreter that embodies academic excellence and engaged citizenship.
