Biosketch and Current and Pending/Other Support Changes for October 2023

NSF has delayed mandating the use of SciENcv for biosketches and current and pending until October 2023. After October, it will be mandatory to use SciENcv to generate both biosketches and current and pending for NSF. You can also generate NIH biosketches using SciENcv. NIH is not mandating the use of SciENcv at this time, however biosketches are easy to update once in SCiENcv.

However, we strongly encourage you to begin migrating your biosketches and other support/current and pending documents to SciENcv at this time to ensure a smooth transition. Stay tuned for more information about a workshop CHSS Pre-Award is planning for Spring 2023 to go over both preparing biosketches and current and pending/other support documents in SciENcv.

Help with Data Management and Sharing Plans

The Digital Scholarship Center (DiSC) within Mason Libraries is able to assist faculty to develop compliant data management and sharing plans. Contact with your questions to get started or take a look at the Research Data Management Basics guide to get started: The libraries will need at least two to three weeks leeway to provide assistance, so please reach out early on in your proposal preparation process.

You Matter and We’re Here to Help

Help us to help you. Use the Pre-Award Request for Assistance (PRA) form to request assistance with proposal submissions.

Effective immediately, all requests for grant proposal submission assistance should be submitted through the following link: CHSS Pre-award Request for Assistance with Proposal Submission Form(PRA).

This link is also on the new CHSS Pre-Award Research Administration section of the CHSS Research webpage.

****Please don’t start a submission in RAMP****

Completion of the PRA Form will trigger assignment to a CHSS Pre-Award Research Administrator (RA) who will partner with you and assist you with your proposal submission. The RA will review the proposal guidelines and provide you with a proposal timeline and a submission checklist, working with you along the way to ensure a successful submission.

NEW CHSS Proposal Submission Deadline - Don’t miss the boat!

CHSS has a new CHSS Proposal Submission Deadline Policy. All proposal documents must be submitted to CHSS for a thorough review 6 business days before the sponsor deadline, no later than 10am that day. CHSS Pre-Award Research Administration staff welcome draft documents in advance to ensure proposal documents are on the right track.

Our correspondence to you, after you submit your PRA form, will outline all important dates, including our required due dates.
