Comprehensive Guidance from Academic Affairs

Last week, Senior Associate Dean Lisa Breglia and Associate Dean Marguerite Rippy sent a thorough listing of instructional guidelines and information to help faculty and staff navigate the fall 2021 semester. If you did not receive this email, please contact your department chair or program director. This guide is full of information helpful for faculty (and students!) returning to Mason’s campuses.

Here are a few more things to keep in mind as the semester gets rolling:

Return to Campus Training

Faculty, staff, and student workers are required to take COVID-19 Safety Training, whether or not they took last year’s return-to-campus training. Administered through MasonLEAPS, the training must be completed by September 3, 2021, or within 14 days of being hired. Supervisors must complete additional training.

The half-hour video outlines the precautions that Mason has taken to keep the university community safe, including information on vaccine requirements, uploading vaccine status, masks, the COVID HealthCheck™ (now required daily), surveillance testing, continued cleaning and increased ventilation of indoor areas, workplace adjustments and accommodations, and more.

Update Your Office Information

CHSS faculty and staff whose offices have moved (for instance, from elsewhere on campus to Horizon Hall) are reminded to update their office location information through PeopleFinder, Mason’s online faculty, staff, and student directory.

Please review your current listing(s) at https://peoplefinder.gmu.edu. If you find any incorrect information, fill out the online update form to submit your changes. You may also use the online form to ask the Office of University Information to create a new listing or remove your listing.

Update Your Bio in CHSSWeb

Each faculty and staff member in the college has a bio on their department’s or program’s site. At a minimum, these should include a photograph of yourself, a short bio, and, if you are a faculty member or a graduate student, your research interests. Having this information up to date is invaluable to our marketing and communication team if we need background about you for an article. Please consider adding awards, publications, and professional activities that present a full picture of your academic life.

You can start the process by locating your bio on your department or program's site, clicking the login link on the right-hand side of the page, and logging in with your Mason credentials. If you need help, contact chssweb@gmu.edu.
