Jawaad Ali

The first person in his family to attend college, Jawaad Ali came to George Mason University with the intention to make the most of his experience.

Drawing on his diverse family background (his father is Pakistani and his mother is Afghan), Jawaad has embraced his study of global affairs with a concentration in the Middle East and North Africa. He has maintained an interest in law enforcement through his long-time participation in the Fairfax County Police Department Explorer Program and through a competitive internship he held with the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Jawaad has held a 25 hour per week job and has maintained an enviable grade point average, and he has also devoted his time volunteering with Muslim Public Affairs Council, at which he held an internship last summer. As a recognition for his many accomplishments and for the challenges he has welcomed, Jawaad received a Dean's Challenge Award for 2013-14.
