Lauren Parker

Lauren Parker has great goals in mind for her future, plans that focus on advocacy and expression. And she has already made a strong start at Mason. One of her professors, in recommending her for the Freshman Academic Achievement Scholarship, noted that, "based on her performance in classes this semester, I have the utmost confidence in her maturity, mental aptitude, and ability to make sound decisions. In this era of increased scrutiny about fiscal responsibility, she would be a very wise investment!"

In her freshman year, Lauren became inspired to become active in the George Mason campus community. She plans "to start an organization called Black Queer Scholars that will serve as a safe space for discussion or healing on campus. We will host fundraisers to donate to safe houses for displaced youth and facilitate projects that reach out to younger black queer future scholars and maintain a constant recognition of their potential." We look forward to see the ways in which Lauren will make the Mason community a better place for all of our Patriots.
