  <abstract>&lt;p&gt;The master's degree program in anthropology prepares students for advanced work in anthropology through courses focusing on the study of culture. Students learn how to use participant-observation fieldwork methods, as well as comparative and holistic knowledge and research methods.   <requirements>&lt;p&gt;Students must successfully complete 36 credits distributed as follows:&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Six required core courses (16 credits): ANTH 535, 536, 635, 650, 750, 797 (1 credit)&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;14 credits of elective courses chosen from advanced courses in anthropology. Up to 6 credits may be from other programs, subject to the approval of the director.&lt;/li&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Students have the option of completing an internship (ANTH 690). An internship can serve as a primary field research site for the thesis, if appropriate. Courses in archaeology and biological anthropology may not be used to meet any requirements for the MA in anthropology.&lt;/p&gt;</requirements>
