Environmental factors contributing to the risk for psychiatric disorders
Dr. Brielmaier received her Ph.D. in Biopsychology (now Cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience) from George Mason University in 2010. She returned to the Psychology Department as a Term Assistant Professor in 2012 after completing a postdoctoral fellowship at the National Institute of Mental Health. Dr. Brielmaier’s broad research interests are in using rodent models to test hypotheses about the etiology of psychiatric disorders and to evaluate potential treatments. She has published articles on the effects of stress on behaviors relevant to nicotine addiction and the effects of gene mutations on behaviors relevant to autism.
