This course investigates the interface between culture, education, and communication. It extends traditional theories and approaches by focusing on non-traditional and non-Western perspectives of these topics. Identity, cultural capital, sociocultural competence, and privilege will be discussed. Critical thinking about the relationships between these three topics will be encouraged through discussions based on common readings and selected media products.
