Anne is a PhD student at George Mason who is studying to get her doctorate in Justice, Law, and Crime Policy. Anne practiced law for 10 years before deciding to return to school. She has been very productive in her graduate education by publishing numerous articles and manuscripts. Anne is also conducting a research program to further her studies related to health, justice, and law.
George Fachner is working towards a Master’s degree in Justice, Law, and Crime Policy here at George Mason. George held a Teaching Assistantship for the 2006 academic year and has worked on various research projects. Most recently George has been offered an assistantship through George Mason at the National Institute for Justice in the International Center.
Jessica is a graduate student at George Mason working towards a Master’s degree in Psychology. Along with a rigorous academic schedule Jessica has also been involved in research concerning developmental assessment and school readiness for ethnically diverse, low-income preschoolers. Jessica has also held high titles in many organizations. Once she completes the Masters program at GMU she plans on working towards her doctorate.
Alissa D’Amelio is working towards a Master’s degree in Communication. She is focusing her degree towards health communication in order to improve personal and public health. Along with her graduate courses she has also worked as a Graduate Research Assistant and as an intern with the National Cancer Institute. In addition to her rigorous schedule Alissa is also working independently on two research projects.
Cara Conway is a graduate student at George Mason working towards a Master’s degree in Psychology. Cara is enrolled in the George Mason University School Psychology Training Program with the intent to one day become a school psychologist. Cara has co-authored chapters in college textbooks that her own courses are using. Cara not only excels in her course work, but she also participates in extracurricular cognitive assessments and holds chairs in both the state and national level of psychology associations.
Jennifer is studying at George Mason to receive a Master’s in Anthropology. She works for the National Park Service and is currently researching an urban area in DC for her thesis. Jennifer has been active in the Anthropology department by acting as a guest speaker for introductory courses. Jennifer is continuing her education and hopes to complete her thesis next semester.
Kimberly is in the Psychology honors program at Mason and is working towards her Bachelor’s degree. She received an Undergraduate-Faculty Research Apprenticeship and has been working as a research assistant in Winslab since Spring 2007. Kimberly has held two other research assistant positions and is a member of many associations related to psychology.
Amanda is currently in the Administration of Justice honors program at Mason working towards her Bachelor’s degree. She has worked in a law office while excelling in her courses. Amanda has conducted independent studies and is working on an ongoing research projects. Ms. Hubert is involved in many organizations on Mason’s campus as well as within her sorority. Amanda plans on graduating from Mason with honors in May 2008 and continuing her education by attending law school the following fall.
Alec is a senior at George Mason studying Global Affairs with a concentration in Global Inequalities. Alec is also working towards a minor in Women’s Studies. Alec has written many papers addressing controversial topics. In Fall 2006 Alec received a scholarship through George Mason in order to enroll as a visiting student at Oxford’s St. Catherine’s College through the Oxford Honors program. Currently Alec is in the process of applying to law school where he will prepare for a career in the defense of human rights.
Afra is an undergraduate student at George Mason working toward a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She is focusing her studies on cross-cultural factors on mental illness. Currently Afra is assisting in the writing of a new section in the cross-cultural psychology textbook and is working on establishing an organization that would make support groups readily available over the internet. She has been involved in numerous organizations and research assistantships and plans to apply to a doctoral program for counseling psychology.
Madeline is a senior at George Mason studying Integrative Studies with a minor in gender studies. She has countless hours of working as a research assistant and as a teaching assistant. Madeline is active in the community by volunteering for women’s shelters also participated in the Alternative Spring Break where she helped rebuild New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. Madeline intends to continue her education in graduate school with the possibility of studying Family Communication.
Andrew is a junior at Mason studying Economics. He has taken many challenging classes in both math and economics and has done exceptionally well. Andrew has been involved at Mason both on the extracurricular and academic level. He has been involved in many internships and research projects and has also participated in intramural sports.
Teresa is currently studying Sociology at George Mason. She has dedicated much of her time to helping others by participating in countless volunteer activities. Teresa is the Alexandria City Refugee Student Liaison and is volunteering at the Battered Wonen’s Shelter in Alexandria. She has devoted much of her time and efforts to helping others, especially children.
Marketa is a senior at George Mason studying Global Affairs with a concentration in Global Diplomacy and Governance. She transferred to Mason in Fall 2006 from the Czech Republic. She is currently teaching Czech in the Faifax County Public Schools and has just completed an internship with the Woodrow Wilson Institute. Marketa would like to pursue a doctoral degree with the intent to become a professor of higher education.
MacGregor is currently a senior studying Government and Politics. He has excelled in his academics and has been induced into the 2007-2008 PIA Honors program and three other honorary societies. MacGregor has also held an internship with the Center for American Progress and has volunteered for many Hispanic organizations. Along with his academic career MacGregor has also excelled as a member of the Mason track team.
Katherine is an undergraduate student at George Mason majoring in Sociology and studying both Business and Anthropology as minors. Katherine is a University Scholar, an honor bestowed upon the top 25 students of each admitting class at Mason. She is currently one of three undergraduate students enrolled in a graduate research course in which she is excelling. Katherine intends on continuing her education in a graduate program with the intent of becoming a professor
